Super Visa for Parents and Grand Parents

A Super Visa is a multiple-entry visitor visa specifically for parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada. A super visa lets you visit your children or grandchildren for up to 5 years at a time. It’s a visa that provides multiple entries for a period up to 10 years. When you enter Canada, a border services officer will confirm how long you can stay. You may extend super visa for up to two additional year while they are in Canada. This visa does not allow them to work in Canada, it only allows them to remain in Canada as a visitor.

This visa allows eligible parents and grandparents to stay temporarily in Canada. To stay permanently, parents and grandparents must be sponsored for permanent residency by their Canadian child or grandchild. Super visa is a type of Canadian visitor visa that are only available to parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents. The biggest difference between a super visa and a visitor visa is the length of time you are allowed to stay in Canada.

Super visa application

You can apply for a super visa by submitting a paper-based application or online. In either case, you must prove that you are the parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. Your application needs to include a letter of invitation from your child or grandchild that includes plans for your care and information about the number of people living in their household in Canada. You will also need to obtain  a private health insurance from a Canadian insurance company or acceptable providers. It needs to be valid for at least one year. Your child or grandchild will also be required to provide the evidence that they have enough funds to support you during your visit by meeting the Low Income Cut-Off (LICO) minimum for their family unit size.
