Necessary conditions to immigrate to rural Canada
- Work experience: Applicants must have at least one year of continuous work experience in the last three years in an occupation related to NOC 0, A, B, C or D.
- Language certificate: Applicants must provide their English or French language score in recognized tests such as IELTS or TEF. The required language score depends on the type of job and NOC skill level.
- Job Offer: Applicants must receive a genuine job offer from an eligible employer in one of the RNIP participating communities.
- Financial ability: Applicants must demonstrate that they have sufficient financial ability to settle themselves and their family in Canada.
- Community Support: Applicants must have the support of a community participating in the RNIP.
Rural and northern migration pilot program
The Rural-Northern Migration Pilot (RNIP) is a community-based program designed to extend the benefits of economic migration to smaller communities by creating a pathway to permanent residency. The program includes communities in Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, Nunavut, the Northwest Territories and the Yukon.

- Connecting newcomers to established community members and local accommodation services
Necessary conditions for society
- Located in Nunavut, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Northwest Territories and Yukon
- Having job opportunities
- Having an economic development plan
- Having a population of 50,000 or less
- The distance of at least 75 km from the core of a census metropolitan area
- Having a local economic development organization to manage the pilot in the community
- Having the capacity to accommodate new immigrants
Requirements for skilled workers
- Having one year of continuous work experience in the last three years (at least 1560 hours)
- Get advice from one of the designated communities
- Meet the language threshold for the NOC skill type/level of the job offered:
1.NOC 0 & A: CLB 6
2.NOC B: CLB 5
3.NOC C & D: CLB 4
- Have a genuine job offer to work in one of the designated communities
- Having settlement funds
- Graduation from a publicly funded post-secondary institution in the recommending community
- Intention to live in society
